Splash & Splat 2013

This is the very first event of Splash and Splat. It is an event initiated by SMUX-Kayaking and Xseed Team for SMU students to relax and chill through the Week 8 by having fun in doing Paintball and White Water Rafting! A total of 29 students participated in this event, which also includes 2 alumni!

On the early hours of 25 Feb 2013, we departed for Malaysia from SMU. With about 7 hours of bus ride, we finally reach our destination, Kuala Kubu Bahru in Sungai Selangor, for our White Water Rafting activity. Sungai Selangor River is a “grade 4” river which is suitable for all level of participants. Participants were first brief by the vendor of what to take note during white water rafting and on how to go about wearing the personal flotation device and helmet. Basically, safety instructions were being told to them.

Then off we go! Down the river! We rested in the middle of the trip and had some snacks

like water, mars bars, biscuits and apples! We started swimming in the river and splashing water and each other! There was so much fun!

After that, we continue our journey down. The rafting session was approximately 4 hours. We then head back and had lunch and showered before heading back to Johor Bahru which was another 6 hours ride on the bus again but we had movies along the way! We finally reach the hotel at around 10pm and stay over there for that day. Some of us went out to have supper. And that ended 25 May 2013.

The next day we meet around 11am at the hotel lobby and proceed with checking out. We headed to Danga City Mall for Paintball! Again, there was a safety briefing before the start of the event.

Participants were split into 4 teams with about 6-7 people in a team and everyone had the chance of playing 3 times. (ie playing with all the other 3 teams). The paintball session lasted about 3 hours.

Some of us even tried out archery!

The event ended on 26 Feb 2013 with participants enjoying themselves throughout the whole trip, meeting new people and friends and bonding with one another! Visit our Facebook page for the rest of the photos!
